Well, after a three week hiatus from our regular Jammin' Java services, we return to our regularly scheduled time and place with a very special treat for you! You are welcome to come to our All-Ages service this Sunday at 10:00 AM at Jammin' Java which will focus on the Beatitudes and God's Dream for His Children.
Our younger CTers have been talking about and exploring ways that we can be God's hands and feet in our world, and bring the beautiful light of God's love to a world in need. Please join us as we all come together to worship. Babysitting will still be available for our very youngest members. Parents of our "big kids", could you have your wonderful kids there a few minutes before 10:00 a.m. so we can run through the song and talk through the service a little? Thanks so much!
Here is a description of how you can be prepared to participate in our worship service this Sunday:
This Sunday is an all-ages service. As you may know, we've been working with the kids on the Beatitudes and we've been talking about how God calls us to be His hands and feet in the world. One of the things we'll be doing at the service is collecting donations to help some of God's people. The items we collect will go to
FACETS, a group we've worked with in the past. Their emergency food pantry is nearly empty so they're looking for lots of help. I spoke with the donation coordinator and she said they are expecting to get lots of food from various Thanksgiving drives - so she suggested that we collect some of the other things they really need - such as
household cleaning supplies, hygiene items, and baby supplies. The complete list of needs can be found
here. Of course, they won't turn down food, but right now that's not their greatest need.
See you then...
Liz
It has also come to our attention that there are needs for long underwear and for members of New Hope Church, our sister church where many members are homeless. Currently, there is a need for XL and XXL mens jackets and long winter underwear.
If you are able to bring any of these items on Sunday, please do so! If you have items for donation at a later time, we can help you to get the donations to the proper place, just let us know.
Looking ahead, we'll be back at Jammin' Java on Sunday the 20th for a service offered by our Discussion Team, and then again on Sunday the 27th (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) for a Creative Team service - even though that's the fourth Sunday of the month. (We traded with Java for the first Sunday, when they had a big kids' music show.)
That's all for now. God bless!
Jackie (with Liz and Croghan)
