November 14 thru 20

As the fortunate person who was able to deliver all of the cleaning supplies, toiletries, and baby gear that we collected last week to FACETs, let me convey the great 'thanks!' that I received.  October and early November are historically times when donations are sparse, and I was assured that all of the supplies we donated would be in people's hands within a day or two.  So, many thanks to you for your generosity and kindness.

And this Friday morning and Saturday, we'll be delivering Thanksgiving baskets for another aid organization in Northern Virginia.   Please contact us if you'd like to help out.

This Sunday, we'll be back at Jammin' Java for a new feature, brought to us by Matt A. and Ken (aka, the Great White Deer Hunters).  Here's their description of what's to come:

This week is our first in a series of discussion based services.  We will start with a prompt but most of the content will be created dynamically as we think out loud together.  Our discussion will use the 2nd chapter of Daniel as our launching point as we think about the imagery of weakness and division as reflected in King Nebuchadnezzar's dream of an image with feet both of clay and iron.  The service will be primarily conversational so there will be lots of opportunity to share as we try to give flesh to this concept and reflect on how it might intersect with our lives.

We hope you'll join us at 10am this Sunday at Jammin' Java to lend your voice.

And next week-- a fourth Sunday when we would normally be elsewhere-- we WILL be at 'Java.  We took the first week of the month off to make room for a Sunday morning concert, so we'll be meeting again on the 27th for our first Advent service.  Our Creative Team will be looking at the traditional Advent theme of 'Hope' through experiences of poetry, art, Scripture, and other expressions.  If you've got some hope to bring, please be in touch-- we'd love to feature it.

Oh, and one more thing:  our annual Christmas party, chili contest, children's candy consumption, and gingerbread house contest will be held at the Fairfax Railroad Museum on Saturday, December 10th from 4-8pm.  Mark your holiday calendars, and don't miss it (srsly, if you haven't been for awhile or aren't sure what you think of CT anymore, this is a great low-pressure chance to stop by and catch up.  ;-)
